A visual novel I built in Ren’Py where you wake up, make choices, regret them and end up back where you started.

The story is built around looping, with different choices leading to different parts of the story before eventually coming back together. This meant I had to keep track of what the player had already seen across each loop.

It ended up teaching me a lot about state and how branching stories can basically work like a state machine. A lot of the challenge was making sure the game remembered the right things without letting the story get too complicated.

Built with: Ren’py, Python
